Immediate Need

Florence, the founder of Maisha Girls Safe House, is visiting Cincinnati this April with a critical goal: to raise $100,000 to build her girls the house they need.

The current Safe House is hugely overcrowded due to the number of girls coming in who need protection. This leads to unsanitary and crowded living conditions. By constructing a larger house, Florence will be able to give the girls the space, safety, and care they need.

Florence is an activist, feminist, and a survivor of childhood sexual violence. She is experienced in trauma counseling and paralegal work with focus on sexual violence issues and the law.

She is the founder of Maisha Girls Safe House, an initiative that brings together girls and young women who have survived sexual violence from across parts of Kenya.

Florence, the safe sister, sums herself up as a “walking safe space” for survivors and vulnerable girls and young women in informal settlements in Nairobi.
